Louisiana · IH Laboratory

Refinery & Petrochemical IH Analysis, Handled In-House

From Baton Rouge to New Orleans, Lake Charles to the Geismar-Gonzales plant belt, Louisiana's refineries and chemical plants run some of the most exposure-intensive work in the country — under active regulatory pressure on benzene and fenceline monitoring. AGT Labs is the accredited industrial hygiene lab behind that work, with every sample analyzed in our Houston facility, no subcontracting, one chain of custody.

The consultants who rank locally for corridor IH work ship their samples out of state to a lab like ours. Working with us directly removes the middleman and shortens the clock — which matters most when a turnaround or unit is waiting on results.

  • Personal and area benzene / BTEX by NIOSH 1501 / OSHA 1028
  • H₂S and acid gases by ion chromatography
  • Welding fume, metals and hexavalent chromium for fabrication & maintenance
  • Respirable crystalline silica by X-ray diffraction
  • Asbestos (NVLAP) and mold (AIHA-EMLAP) for legacy plant materials & facilities
  • Standing-account turnaround programs with reserved capacity

Industries

Louisiana Industries We Support

Louisiana's industrial base is concentrated, high-hazard and heavily regulated — exactly where accredited exposure data matters most.

01

Refineries & Petrochemical

The Baton Rouge-New Orleans corridor and Lake Charles complex — benzene/BTEX, H₂S, PAH, catalyst metals, and turnaround exposure monitoring.

02

Chemical Manufacturing

The Geismar-Gonzales "plant belt" — VOCs, butadiene, formaldehyde, isocyanates, acids/alkali, and airborne metals.

03

LNG & Marine Construction

Louisiana IH Testing — Frequently Asked Questions

Does AGT need a Louisiana state license to analyze our samples?
No. IH exposure analysis is performed under our AIHA-LAP accreditation (LAP-101470) and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 — nationally and internationally recognized and not tied to any single state. Asbestos analysis is under NVLAP (101793-0), accepted nationwide including Louisiana. Louisiana's asbestos accreditation applies to the field inspectors who collect samples — not to the analyzing lab.
How fast can you turn around samples shipped from Louisiana?
Samples received before 2:00 PM CST are logged the same day. Standard turnaround runs from about 7 business days down to 1-day rush on most analytes. Because Louisiana is a short courier hop from Houston, transit rarely adds more than a day.
Which Louisiana industries do you support?
Refineries and petrochemical plants along the Baton Rouge-to-New Orleans corridor and the Lake Charles complex, chemical manufacturing in the Geismar-Gonzales belt, LNG and marine construction, and industrial contractors — running benzene/BTEX, H₂S, welding fume and metals, hexavalent chromium, silica, asbestos, mold, noise and heat stress.
Do you supply sampling media and pumps for Louisiana projects?
Yes. We ship pre-labeled sampling kits and sorbent media to your Louisiana site and offer a calibrated pump loaner program, so your team can sample on schedule and ship media back for same-day log-in.
Can you handle a full refinery turnaround in Louisiana?
Yes. Turnarounds run on a standing account with reserved capacity, rush turnaround, and a dedicated project manager who owns kits, priority handling and reporting for the whole event — so a compressed shutdown schedule never waits on lab results.
Do you cover benzene and fenceline monitoring?
Yes. Benzene and BTEX by NIOSH 1501 / OSHA 1028 is core work for us, supporting both worker exposure monitoring and area sampling programs across the corridor. Call (713) 453-6090 to scope your program.
